Ukrainian National Guard unveils armoured vehicles for chemical, radiological reconnaissance
The Ukrainian National Guard has unveiled a new fleet of armoured vehicles for chemical and radiological reconnaissance.
In a post on Facebook on Monday 10 August, the commander of the Ukrainian National Guard, BG Oleksandr Pivnenko, wrote that the new vehicles will strengthen the radiation, chemical and biological protection units' ability to "timely detect radiation, chemical and biological threats, determine the scale of infection, control the situation and promptly transmit information to the command".
He noted that new vehicles were developed on the chassis of the "Tisa" light armoured car, providing a "modern complex that allows for reconnaissance and monitoring of dangerous areas without the need to leave the protected car".
The vehicles are equipped with radiation and chemical reconnaissance devices; an automated information collection and processing system; a weather station; modern communication means and satellite navigation.
The armoured vehicle is based on the Toyota LC79 and meets the NATO STANAG 4569 protection standard, and is equipped with night vision, ventilation and air filtration systems.
