UAE introduces National Readiness Accelerators Programme, includes CBRN threats
The United Arab Emirates' National Programme for Medical Preparedness and Response, known as "Jaheziya", has introduced a National Readiness Accelerators Programme in a bid to create a unified national framework for specialised training.
According to information shared by various Emirati outlets, the programme is designed to increase the readiness of frontline workers and strengthen field and virtual emergency response capabilities across public and private sectors. This will be done in full alignment with international standards and best practices, sources note.
"The initiative serves as an integrated ecosystem that connects national leaders, prominent international universities, specialised training hubs and global advisory boards to foster innovation, facilitate knowledge sharing, tackle operational challenges and formulate solutions that bolster national preparedness," they added.
The curriculum will feature a number of foundational, specialised and strategic leadership pathways, encompassing disciplines such as command and control, business continuity, management of CBRNe risks, data and operations room coordination, and the management of major and mass-casualty events.
Dr Adel Al Shamri Al Ajami, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, chairman of the Emirates Doctors Initiative and chairman of the programme, emphasised that completing these courses is a mandatory requirement for professional practice and license renewals for frontline personnel in accordance with current regulations.
Professor Roberto Mugavero, president of the European Centre for Disaster Medicine, praised the UAE for establishing a "world-class model of proactive readiness through sustained investments in practical, needs-driven training programmes".
