Russian strike on Ukrainian critical infrastructure facility causes chemical leak
A Russian strike on a Ukrainian critical infrastructure facility near the city of Poltava on Sunday 2 August caused a leak of a hazardous chemical, reported Ukrainian government sources.
An announcement from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on Telegram said that the leak occurred as a result of Russian shelling, adding that, despite "difficult conditions", chemical protection specialists sealed the damaged containers and the leak sites.
"Thanks to the quick actions of rescuers, the threat was completely eliminated, which allowed work to continue safely at the facility," the announcement concluded.
