Rigaku unveils Icon-X fourth generation handheld 1064 nm Raman analyser

Rigaku Analytical Devices has unveiled its fourth generation handheld 1064 nm Raman analyser, Icon-X.

In a promo video posted on X on 14 July, Icon-X was described as a "bold leap forward in handheld chemical identification". It offers enhanced performance with faster scan processing; an illuminated keypad and larger, more responsive touchscreen for even easier use; GPS ability to mark critical scan data for fleet management and sensitive site exploitation; short-range standoff and ballprobe capabilities; and is MIL 810H and IP-68 certified for use in harsh environments and decontamination purposes.

Rigaku describes the Icon-X as "critical for military, first responders, EOD and border protection teams who could potentially be exposed to explosive threats, such as IEDs, HMEs and chemical threats.
