Perma-Fix, Mirion Technologies form partnership for DoE and federal nuclear cleanup

Perma-Fix Environmental Services and Mirion Technologies have announced the formation of a partnership focusing on opportunities involving advanced waste characterisation and segregation, radiological measurement and non-destructive assay, waste processing, packaging, transportation, and disposal support for complex nuclear and environmental remediation projects.

Announced on Tuesday 4 August, a press release published by Perma-Fix noted that the partnership would "reinforce" their "leadership in the US nuclear cleanup market in support of the Department of Energy and its Office of Environmental Management’s mission to reduce risks from the Cold War nuclear legacy and advance safe, permanent solutions for complex radioactive and hazardous waste

Perma-Fix's three decades of experience in nuclear waste treatment, environmental remediation, project management and waste disposition would be complemented by Mirion Technologies’ expertise in radiation detection, measurement, monitoring and advanced nuclear instrumentation.

"The partnership is intended to support earlier and more accurate waste segregation, optimised disposal pathways, reduced disposal costs and timelines, and improved project execution across major DOE cleanup programmes," the press release said.
