Final day of NEXUS Georgia 2026 concludes with exercise in Mtskheta

NEXUS Georgia 2026, an inter-agency field-practical exercise on responding to chemical and explosive threats, has concluded in the Georgian city of Mtskheta.

The third and final simulation exercise on Tuesday 8 September focused on responding to a chemical incident and managing an explosive threat during a mass-gathering scenario in Georgia.

The event was attended by Lasha Maghradze (State Security Service of Georgia), Shalva Tadumadze (Ministry of Internal Affairs), Irakli Chichinadze, (Ministry of Defence), and other senior officials of the agencies involved in the project.

The week-long NEXUS Georgia 2026 is the first time that a simulation exercise of this scale has been conducted in Georgia, and was made possible through collaboration between the State Security Service of Georgia and the United States Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
