Yemen foreign ministry calls for investigation into alleged chemical weapons attack
Yemen's foreign ministry has called for a specialised technical investigation into allegations that shells suspected of containing toxic substances were used on several front lines in Taiz, western Yemen.
In an article published on 1 November by Roya News, the ministry stressed the need for a technical assessment to establish the nature of the suspected substances and verify the reports.
The Yemeni strategic analyst Yasser Saleh is also reported to have told Al Jazeera that symptoms reported following a large-scale Houthi attack southeast of Taiz city were consistent with sarin gas poisoning. These allegations of chemical weapons use in Taiz have not been independently confirmed, however.
